At St Denys we like to offer a variety
of worship services so that almost everyone can find a style of worship to suit
them. In practice this means that the character of each of our services is quite
different.
Morning Services
8.00am Holy Communion
This is a quiet traditional service
with a short talk and no music. It is a gentle way to start your Sunday by
worshiping God in the stillness.
About 20 people attend this service
and it lasts about 40mins
9.30am Sung Communion
This is a traditional service with
choir, organ, hymns and a sermon. We do use a modern language version of the
service but all of the values of traditional Church services are preserved.
For those who prefer traditional
Church services with good hymns and a friendly atmosphere this is an ideal way
to worship God.
About 65 people attend this
service and the service lasts about an hour.
11.00am Morning Praise
This is a modern style service with a
worship group of keyboard, guitars, other instruments and drums, mostly using
modern worship. The choir & organ are not used.
No experience of church is needed.
There are no books, other than the Bible, and the emphasis is on keeping it
simple.
Also at this time Junior Church
with classes for:
the very young yr2 (Little
Angels)
years 3-5 (Disciples)
years 6-8 (TGI-1)
years 9-11 (TG-2)
1st Sunday of month Morning
Praise/Holy Communion.
3rd Sunday of month Morning
Praise/All Age service (No Junior Church)
These are ideal services for young
families, those who dont mind church being sometimes a bit noisy, and those who
have never been to church in their lives.
About 65 adults and 50 children
attend this service and the service lasts for about an hour.
5th Sunday of Month
A combined service at 10.00am This
happens four times a year and gives an occasional opportunity for the two main
morning congregations to meet together for worship.
Evening Services
6.30pm Evensong(except 1st Sunday of Month)
This is a traditional evening service
with a choir, organ, hymns and a sermon. 4th Sunday of the month - the
choir sing a choral setting of this service. About 20 people attend this service
and the service lasts about an hour.
6.30pm DEEPER
(1st Sunday of Month only)
Modern multimedia-rich service with a
focus on "Going deeper and seeking intimacy with the Father". This
service lasts an hour.
5th Sunday of Month
A combined service with Lisvane
Baptist Church at 6.30pm. This is a new venture, which we hope to develop as an
opportunity for the two churches in the community to get to know each other more
and more
