Prayer for G8 Summit—6th-8th July

bullet

Lord, we ask that you will give strength to these eight world leaders as they meet in Gleneagles this week. Challenge them to act justly and to walk humbly before you.

bullet

In the midst of the media attention, the tight security and tough political negotiations, help them to remember those who are weak, who are without food, healthcare, education and security.

bullet

We pray that you will inspire them to make history this week by agreeing bold steps to tackle world poverty.

bullet

We pray that your Spirit will influence the discussions and decisions in support for trade justice, more and better aid, and the cancellation of the debts of the world’s poorest countries.

bullet

Lord, inspire and challenge us and your Church to build a world where extreme poverty and injustice are no longer tolerated. Help us to support the work of the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign and the Micah Challenge in their efforts to eradicate the extreme poverty and disease that mars your good creation. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.  Amen
