This is a representation (for the web)
of the Lisvane Prayer sheet
As a church we are committed to
numerical as well as spiritual growth.
There is no more available space for the expanding
Junior Church that meets both in the existing hall and in Church House.
There is a good chance that the population of the
parish could almost double in the next 5-10 years.
The present building is really, in effect, two
buildings with its own entrance and exit—Half the congregation can not
physically see the other half
Studies show
that churches do not expand to more than 80% of their seating capacity
Not including
choir the present capacity of the church is about 120 (80% = 96)
Average
attendance at 9.30am is about 50 (not including choir) - Average attendance at
11.00am is about 90 [45 adults and 45 children]

What is God’s will here?
Try to put aside your desires –
either for or against the building project
Can we still concentrate on being Church if we commit
to a building project?
Are we committed to being Church or to occupying
buildings
– whether new or old?
Will changing the buildings improve our mission in
this community?
Is it God’s Will?

The proposed building is a radical
alteration to the present one
 |
It will cost in excess of £750,000
|
 |
We will lose the intimacy of a smaller building
|
 |
There is a difficult with car parking (this problem
already exists)
|

As a church we lack the space to do the
things we are already committed to
 |
Coffee, Choir & Little Angels all compete for the
same space.
|
 |
Worship Group and Ladies Guild compete for the same
space.
|
 |
Alpha is run away from church.
|
 |
There is no space for a bookshop/stand
|

As a church we are committed to
excellence in worship regardless of worship style
 |
Imaginative worship is limited because of the
shortage of space.
|
 |
The choir & organ, and the music group are hard to
hear in the ’78 extension
|
 |
Those reading or leading worship often feel as if
they are addressing a wall
|

Our whole desire is to do the will of
God !
Unless the Lord build the house, its builder labour in vain
(Psalm 127.1)
