Video from the September 2007 All Age Service.

A narrated video of Saul's life and conversion on the Damascus road! Acted out by members of St Denys Church Lisvane and Set to the Jaws theme tune and the Alleluia Chorus!

To give a flavour of what an All Age Service is like, here are some pictures and details of the All Age Service that took place on 18th January 2004.

Power Point is normally used in this monthly service, to the left is the title screen used during the service.

After the welcome to the service, a prayer was said and essential notices given out.

Each All Age Service includes a memory verse and now it was time for January's Memory Verse. This is a challenge that everyone rises to (literally this month!) Adults included! It was learnt by the congregation being split in half and alternating between the two groups with each word of the verse!  Did I forget to mention that each group had to quickly stand up when saying their word then sit down as the other group stood up and said their word! It certainly worked as a good warm up!

We were then told that there would be surprise Memory Verse tests during the service (heralded by a police siren sound effect and a flashing "Memory Verse Alert!" Graphic).  It was at this point I knew I should have paid more attention to the memory verse learning!!

We had an opening time of worship.  The Songs sung were:

After the lively worship we had a quiz time, with pictures of our Vicar Paul in unexpected situations! This involved Paul as one of a quartet of well known children's television characters (eh oh!), a football player in a team, a cast member in Eastenders and one of a group of American Civil War Veterans!  The quiz was to spot him, like in Where's Wally.  This also helped relate to the theme of the January All Age Service which was finding God in situations and circumstances where we don't expect him.

We then had the first of the surprise Memory Verse Alerts!

After that shock, we had a bible reading which was Matthew 25: 34-40. The difference was that it was read twice and Keren and Ed acted out parts of the verse.  The first read through was from the NIV translation.  The second read through was from Rob Lacey's Street Bible (a very modern interpretation and was read with a South London accent!)  Sorry there's no photos but I was doing the reading!).

Keren explained the relevance of the passage for us today.

Another Surprise Memory Verse Alert was then instigated! By this time most people were getting to remember the verse!

We had a gentle song called "If I go Climbing" which the toddlers and very young children came out to front and did actions to, we all sang along.

There was a chance for people to write or draw a situation that they don't usually expect to be aware of God's presence. These were then placed up the front of church with the prayer that we would see where the Lord is in those places/situations.

The worship band then led us in a small time of worship, the children had been given the memory verse in a picture which they could colour, if they didn't want to sing!

This month we had a drummer and Rob can be seen on Electric Guitar, Julia on piano and hidden from view was Steve on acoustic guitar!

The Songs sung were:

There were some prayers led by the Wortham family after which a blessing was given and a final song was sung.

The All Age Service happens once a month, please see the diary page for the next service!
